It is very important to look after your new driveway, here are some handy tips to make sure that it stays looking as good as new!
- Occasionally in warmer weather, the surface can become agitated. The sun’s heat will be absorbed by the top layer of tarmac, making it more flexible to movement. The tarmac contains the heat so it is always 10 – 20 degrees warmer than the outside temperature. Therefore, the surface is softer in the summer and harder in the winter months, and stronger the year after the initial application due to oxidisation of the bitumen.
- Special care must be taken when turning vehicles on the driveway, as power steering could cause the top layer of the tarmac to break up, especially in warmer weather (see above)
- The excessive use of a jet wash on the tarmac can cause the wearing course (the top layer) to become disturbed
- Build up in tyre heat, i.e. after a long journey, could also have an effect on the surface. It is advisable to leave the vehicle off the driveway for a short period to allow the tyres to cool.
Or you driveway could end up looking like this…
This is a job completed last week in Gedling. It was a driveway finished in Black Macamit Wearing Coat, with Red block detailing and a very effective Block paved step added. The customers were very happy, and completed a Checkatrade review straight away, giving us a fantastic 9.8/10!
