Where it all began…

We have recently unearthed this photo of Dennis and his first Ainsley Asphalt lorry, back when the company began in 1972!

New Yell.com review posted in July 2015

A fantastic new review for Ainsley Asphalt’s work has been added to Yell.com. This is a driveway completed in Breaston, with block edging, and Black Tarmac, which has really lifted the front of the property and made it look fresh, yet it is still in keeping with the character of the house!

Aftercare for your driveway

Nottingham Asphalt and Block Paving Contractors

It is very important to look after your new driveway, here are some handy tips to make sure that it stays looking as good as new!

  • Occasionally in warmer weather, the surface can become agitated. The sun’s heat will be absorbed by the top layer of tarmac, making it more flexible to movement. The tarmac contains the heat so it is always 10 – 20 degrees warmer than the outside temperature. Therefore, the surface is softer in the summer and harder in the winter months, and stronger the year after the initial application due to oxidisation of the bitumen.
  • Special care must be taken when turning vehicles on the driveway, as power steering could cause the top layer of the tarmac to break up, especially in warmer weather (see above)
  • The excessive use of a jet wash on the tarmac can cause the wearing course (the top layer) to become disturbed
  • Build up in tyre heat, i.e. after a long journey, could also have an effect on the surface. It is advisable to leave the vehicle off the driveway for a short period to allow the tyres to cool.

Or you driveway could end up looking like this…

This is a job completed last week in Gedling. It was a driveway finished in Black Macamit Wearing Coat, with Red block detailing and a very effective Block paved step added. The customers were very happy, and completed a Checkatrade review straight away, giving us a fantastic 9.8/10!

This beautiful resin driveway is our most recent Resin work, and was completed in January. Resin is an up and coming new surface, which comes in a range of colours, and effects. The below photos show the laying process from start to finish and I think you’ll agree it looks very effective and the team did a great job. Dropped Kerb Training

We hope all our customers are well and enjoying the slightly warmer weather of Spring! We’re back to full working order after the late snow. Here’s our latest company update –

Company Manager Jim Langham has recently completed a street works course that he began a month ago. This enables Ainsley Asphalt to work on the public highways; but more importantly it means that we can construct dropped kerbs in the pavement, for our driveway customers.

In other company news, we recently completed six jobs at a primary school in Old Basford – all within the half term break. We laid tarmac to several areas that needed resurfacing and put in a new drainage system to deal with a standing water problem. This week we also completed private jobs in the West Bridgford and Ilkeston areas.

Tarmac Driveway Specialists

Deteriorating driveways could be a result of incorrect construction, subsidence, flooding, invading tree roots, solvent spillage and age; to name but a few. All drives are different and require different needs to be met.

If you’re concerned that you have a problem with your driveway, one call to our surveyor will put your mind at rest. The majority of our work involves excavation, road stone, edgings, base coat and wearing coat.

Ainsley Asphalt can enhance your property with an attractive driveway that doesn’t cost the earth, we can also provide block paved driveways and patios; and fencing to complement your new driveway.
